These documents are very rare and are printed on parchment and manuscripts with beautiful engravings which usually represented the coats of arms of noble families .

The mountains date back to the medieval institutions of credit pledge. From the sixteenth century they got the money by receiving cash deposits from citizens around the issue of certificates of credit names such places (a term that stands for equity shares ) . With the gradual evolution of the banking system Monti became true lenders , some of which still exist. ` The amount of places was always high : usually at Monti Florentine their unit value was 100 Shields , amount of respect for the ` time and certainly out of the reach of small investors . So to make it accessible to everyone `s investment was also allowed the placement of portions of the site , provided that not less than one -fourth ( of 25 Shields ) .

Places called themselves " vacabili " whether to grant or redeemable upon the death of montista (in which case certificates representing pure life annuity) , or " not vacabili " if callable (in this case taking the quality of equity securities , communicable and long-lasting ) . These certificates of deposit can be considered the oldest Italian bank documents .
